Here's what to do to be ready for our visit:
DO
- Have your baby ready to feed a little after our visit start time so that we can see how much milk your baby is drinking at a feed. For newborns, I typically recommend ending the last feed about 1 hr prior to our visit. For older babies, ending the last feed 2 hours before our visit. Of course, I do realize this can be difficult, just do the best you can!
- Due to the Covid situation, I ask that all persons in the consult room (except for baby) wear masks.
- Leave plenty of time for our visit - they typically last 1.5 hours. If your baby isn't latching well, they may take a little longer.
- Have a couch or open seating area for us to sit at. I need to be able to get around both sides of you to be able to watch baby nurse.
- Have a list of any questions that you'd like answered. If you have any online/written record of baby's diaper output/nursing/pumps/feeds, have them handy as well.
- Clean up for me. New parenthood is overwhelming enough!
- Feel stressed or worried about our visit. My job is to provide you compassionate care, information and a path forward to help you meet your feeding goals.
